Idea 1: Recruit |
Idea 2: Heist |
this idea will be about a group of British army soldiers going to a huge war zone in the Sahara desert where we are introduced to four characters in an open roof military jeep travelling to the the war zone in a fleet of different vehicles, the first character is a new recruit who is male, young adult and it is is first time travelling to a different continent to fight in because he has never been overseas to fight for the country and has recently finished his training. the second character is one of the captains, male and he is talking to the recruit, the captain is around 35 years old and is quite experienced in war zones and he is guiding the new recruit. the other two characters will be sat at the front of the jeep and the captain and the new recruit are sat at the back of the jeep having a conversation. the two characters sat at the front of the jeep are interacted with on the journey there but are not important characters. the story is good and peaceful until the fleet arrives at their base where they need to be because they are preparing to go into battle until a bomb explodes in the distance and for a few seconds there is a concussion sound and all the landscape has become uneven and there is lots of rubble every where and most people have died apart from the main characters who are a little bit injured. they get up of the ground and try to search for other troops so they have to travel through the enemy side but all of the enemies have died so its safe for them and because it is so hot, they have to try and get supplies and get back o their camp to some of the survivors and leave so they don't die because of the heat.

this idea is a bout 4 people who plan a heist where they will be attempting to rob a luxury jewellery shop in the middle of London and they get interrupted by a ufo which turns out to be an escapee from area 51 and creates a huge fog cloud allowing our 4 main characters mick, mike, john and bob to get away but the next problem is that they have to try and navigate through the city because there is fog and for some reason the city is empty and there are no one on the streets. so they have to travel to the coast towards France where they have to escape police, escape the fog and they have people waiting so that they can hop onto a large boat where they will put all of the stolen goods and when they get on the boat they get surrounded by fog and they start hearing weird surreal sounds and they have to cross over to France to escape when they exit the fog they start to get closer to France and when they look behind them they see a big dark shadow in the fog and then a loud screech is heard and then the story ends on a cliff hanger.

Final idea/idea development - New Recruit - Action
when i thought of the idea "new recruit" i hadn't really thought out an ending for it. the original idea was the characters go somewhere and then an explosion happens which wasn't really that effective.through feedback and asking for opinions from people i figured that i would have to make the radio drama more interesting by adding an ending to it and improving the characterisation. for example in the radio drama the character 'Chris' reads a letter which he had received from his girlfriend, another way in which i improved on the characterisation is that i had the two main characters talk about what loved ones they have at home.
Exposition - at the start we fade in to slow violin music and hear the engine of a jeep and a soldier reading a letter that was written to him by his girlfriend who he had been seeing for about 7 months and she talks about how she wants him to be safe and she expresses her love for him and you can hear the new recruit reading it in a calm voice, in the background, we hear the slow violin music and other soldiers muttering in the other vehicles when he finishes the letter the violin stops and and there is just the engine sound of the jeep, after 5 seconds we hear the captain talking to the new recruit about what to expect and how to get used to what they are about to do.
Conflict - the conflict in the radio drama is where the main characters are about to go into battle and then all of a sudden we hear a huge bomb explosion and then a concussion sound effect and the bomb destroys most of the supplies not only are the supplies destroyed but the majority of their team and the enemy team were killed in that explosion so now they have to try and get back home but the only way to do that isd by getting supplies from the enemy base camp and returning to their base camp and then using the last drive-able truck in order to get home. the character Chris is also shot in the arm by a surviving enemy during the process of obtaining some supplies
Resolution - the resolution for my piece is that the characters Chris and Eric are re-united with driver and other passenger from the beginning and they are able to drive Chris and Eric back home they end up leaving before they die from the heat and Chris dies from blood loss so they get back and give Chris aid and medication and all 4 of them return home safely back to loved ones.

listening task
in the first part of the audio i hear some hip hop type of music playing and then i hear the lyrics 'straight outta Compton' which reminds me of the film 'straight outta Compton'
|
this music in the piece after reminds me of the type of films that were produced a short time after the war because it sounds like the music that they listen to during those times
|
the next piece of audio reminds me of Indian culture because i understand that this type of music gets produced in India
|
the next piece of audio reminds me of the travel part of a film where they have to go on a long journey through something like a desert
|
this piece reminds me of the most intense part of a wild western type of film because if heard it used in these types of films before.
|
the next piece reminds me of a sad part of a black and white film or just an old film that includes this type of music
|
this western music reminds me of a modern looking western film involving high quality images
|
the next piece also reminds more of a modern western type of film also in high quality
|
this last piece of audio reminds me of a film involving multiple shark attacks similar to the film 'jaws'

Unedited Foley
Screen grabs and significant momentsin the top picture you can see where I've laid out the audio clips was quite basic and there wasn't really any background noise, that being Foley and ambience. however in the second screen grab i added some background noise, that being Foley and ambience to help the audience understand where the characters are and what type of environment they are in which is quite an important feature if you want a radio drama to be effective. in mine i added war sound effects such as shooting and grenade explosions to create that extra bit of tension and detail. a lot of my Foley i couldn't record as it was based around war so i couldn't really recreate things like gunshots and explosions so i recorded footsteps which you can see ive added in the second screen grab. personally i think that the more Foley you add in, the more effective your piece is as it makes it more interesting and it makes people listen to each individual sound you implement into the radio drama.
