Henley Skate park located in Makins Recreation Ground, Greys Rd, Henley-on-Thames RG9 1TE was originally built in 2012 however it was re-built in 03.08.17 and has been a great much loved addition to Henley ever since. Suited for BMX, Skateboard and even roller blade, this park is equip with a bowl for park riders to ride and a great street section with grind ledges, rails and quarters-pipes.
It took six years to get the park approved funded and built and it really paid off in the end and the park will cater to all riding needs for decades to come.
Personally I BMX and Henley's skate park is a great facility for me and others to ride and learn.
The skate park cost £290,000 to initially build. The park received a £100,000 SODC grant as well as a £75,000 award from sport England. The Henley town council also backed the project with £75,000 and £20,000 from Thamesfield Youth Association plus. £15,000 was borrowed so that construction could start in time for it to be finished during summer so that it could open during peak and most active times. The park also received donations from the public.
The Park was built by Maverick Skate-parks a company specialized in building skate parks and have built a wide range of parks all over the UK but primarily in England. Fully equip with a lot of experience and knowledge they have created a great park in Henley.
This skate park replaced the previous park that was built in 2004 and along with it came security cameras for a safer environment for kids using the park. The committee also installed benches and bins for seating and waste disposal.
The park is made from concrete, brick and metal which all work and stay maintained in outdoor conditions and need little maintenance to keep in good condition.

looking at the Henley standard, I have found out that the council approve of the skatepark and they like it because it means there is a place for children and teenagers to hangout instead of hanging around in the town where the adult locals like to go. According to the Henley standard (2016) "“It’s the proudest moment of my six years on the town council and, as someone who doesn’t skate, that’s a challenge!”Councillor Dave Eggleton said: “It has taken a long time but all good things are worth the wait. I’m sure the kids will have a brilliant time down here.”Councillor Stefan Gawrysiak said: “I’m absolutely elated that after six years of hard work we are bringing this project to fruition.“It will be a fabulous sporting facility for the young people of Henley and older people too. At the full opening I’ll come down and give it a twirl! "Russ Holbert, a director at Maverick Industries, said: “We originally met with the local user group back in 2011 and the design evolved over time to create what we believe will be a destination park for the UK.“This skate park will really put Henley on the map. It’s one of the most exciting projects we’ve been involved with and will be a great venue for competitions and events.". I think this is relevant because it shows the council of the area's opinions and views on it.
